A visitor visa, also known as a temporary resident visa, is an official document that is embedded on one’s passport. It ensures that the individual fulfills the requirements necessary to enter Canada. A visitor visa is needed by most travelers for traveling in Canada. A visitor visa can also be needed if one is transiting through an airport in Canada on his or her way to the final destination.

Who Can Apply?

The eligibility criteria for the application for a visitor permit are:

One must have a valid travel document (for example, a passport).
The individual should be in a state of good health
He or she must not have convictions related to crimes and immigration.
Should convince an officer of immigration that the individual has ties in jobs, home, family, or financial assets which will work him or her back to his or her home country.
One must convince an immigration officer that he or she will leave Canada at the end of their visit.
Must possess enough money for their stay.
The amount of money that needs to be paid, depends on the length of stay or the ones with whom an individual will stay.

One may even need a medical exam and an invitation letter from someone, living in Canada.
